10-10-09: As you probably already know, we've had a bit of excitement in the RF community lately, what with the now infamous hacker(s)/flooder(s) and the debates surrounding the attacks. Also, the RATS server crashed about a month ago, so the level rotation got messed up. We'll be fixing that soon and we'll have some new maps to try out. I've added a new page for all of the available custom levels on the server with screenshots for those appropriately marked. As a result, the individual map pages are gone which is actually a good thing. Now everything is centrally located and organized.

Mr. Rob Stanley finally caught wind of us using his artwork and has graciously allowed us to continue using it, as long as we include an additional link to the actual business user of that piece, which I have done. I must apologize to Rob and the owners of Busse Knife Group, as I was supposed to email Rob several months ago but didn't due to my own laziness. I was the one who found the piece online and included it in our site design. I found it fitting that both the RATS server and Mr. Stanley are in Australia. Now, to find out that the company using the artwork is combat-related, it makes it even more suitable. On behalf of the administrators of Ratsfaction.com, I'd like to thank Rob Stanley and the Busse Knife Group for letting us use this wonderfully frightening image.

8-21-09: Another modified lineup was introduced a few days ago due to some of the previous map choices not working out so well. Part of the reason for the quick changes is that some maps don't agree with the modded geo we have here. This is being addressed and the mods will be toned down a bit in the near future. There will still be amplified damage, but it won't be as extreme. This will be a welcome change for many who like the maps we have here but who have been frustrated with the C4 and grenade "tossers" and the cavernous holes that trap players and force suicides. So, while we're working on this, the rotation is loaded with tried and true classics that allow for plenty of room for hiding, hunting, and sniping. The only map that's a bit unstable is DM-MM7 (it shows up as "Office" in your server browser). We know it's fun to redecorate the furniture, but please don't overdue the explosives if a serious game is going on or the map will crash. Thanks, and have fun.

Edit: DM-NC-SniperWar has replaced DM-MM7 (Office). The instability was too much after all.

7-26-09: Rats map rotation 2.0 is now in effect. It's a mix of obscure choices with some player favorites thrown in for good measure. If you recently downloaded the map pack for the previous rotation from levels4you.com, you didn't waste your time. We will be revisiting some of the maps from that group. As before, please notify me if any of the zip files are corrupted.

7-04-09: The server has been updated with four new maps in the rotation. They should prove to be a good fit. To download them, go to the current maps page.

We've had some new visitors at the Ratsfaction server and the combat has been great. On behalf of the rcon team, I'd like to welcome you and we hope you become regular participants.

6-24-09: With the first round of testing still in progress, three of the new maps have been replaced. The popular Rats server standard map dm-Ducksdriveby is back in the mix.

6-23-09: A new copy of the dm-lostharbor_fixed.zip file has been uploaded to replace the corrupted one. Thanks to N.A.B. for the heads-up, and if anyone has trouble unpacking any of the map files due to file corruption or CRC errors, please send me an email right away. Thanks! -- Gran

Edit: No matter what copy I upload, it always comes back corrupted. So for now, the map will be available uncompressed in its original format. Right-click on the link and choose "save target as" or "save link as" and copy the file directly into your user maps\multi folder.

6-22-09: Ready or not, here it is. We're live.
